Anyone experienced with dye chemistry?
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:35:24 PM »
Does anyone has any practical or theoretical experience with dye chemistry? In particular, Im trying to make diazosuphonates (R-N=N-SO3-) by copulation of diazonium salt with sodium sulfite but there arent many experimental procedures in literature. They either failed or are described in german journals from 18xx and lack any kind of detail. However, I found that those are/were used a lot in dye industry as is described in US3168401A.  They have quite a lot diazosuphonates but they dont describe their preparation. so I suppose there has to be reliable method that works on different substrates. I mean I searched reaxys and scifinder for few days but I was not realy succesful in finding reliable method of producing compounds like that.
Glad for any ideas or suggestions where to look
THanks

My organic chemistry course definitely didn't cover this.

Thank you, I must have missed that one. Hope we have it in library :)

Borek: Neither did mine :D
