What should I do with silicon?
« on: March 25, 2016, 02:31:20 PM »
Let's say I have an amount of silicon dust in the bottom of a jar of water. What are some good uses for silicon that I could try with household supplies; And with this element could I create silicone?

What form was the silicon in when you added it to the water, powder, lumps? What was the source of the silicon? Have a look at this for some ideas and come back and tell us? http://www.lenntech.com/periodic/water/silicon/silicon-and-water.htm

The silicon is isolated from sand, from a recipe that leaves it in a powder form in the bottom of a container of water. I actually haven't tried this out yet, but I plan to when I get some proper materials. I just wanted to see how I could use silicon before I isolated it.

I looked at the website, and thanks! It appears I could use silicon for water filtration. I still am wondering whether I could make some silicone with it, though; as I have heard it is useful for a number of things.
