Assuming that you are talking about propene+steam...

The chemical equation of this reaction according to your suggestion is: C3H6(g)+H2O(g)  :rarrow: C3H7OH(l)+H2O(l)

Can you see anything ridiculous in this equation?
Year 1 science student in HKUST and a Chemistry geek.
