The reaction for the formation of nitrosyl chloride 2NO (g) +cl2 (g)  ::equil::2 NOCl (g) was studied at 25 C. The pressure at equilibrium was found to be p NOCL = 1.2 atm, PNO =5.0 x 10^-2 atm, and p cl2= 3.0 x 10^-1 arm.

If 1.0 atm of nocl was placed into the evacuated container, would a reaction occur? Show the calculation and explain the answer.

If 1.0 arm of nocl,cl2, and no were placed into the evacuated container would a reaction occur? If so, which direction. Show calculation .
