Oxydation of alkenes
« on: July 03, 2016, 07:03:09 AM »
Dear All,

I am trying to understand the regioselectivty for the oxydation of alkenes with osmium oxide and water (OsO4).
Let's take this example:http://cl.ly/2S1U3J030F2h

I know for the m-CPBA it's correct. My question is more on the dihydroxylation: is it correct ? I did this because in my opinion the osmium is sensible to steric effects but I am not sure.

Thanks.
