GC enantiomers analysis
« on: May 18, 2006, 08:58:21 AM »
Hi

Can anyone tell me how can I make an ee analysis for Benzoin in GC. The Problem ist that I can't separate the two enantiomers in GC. I don't have an HPLC instrument so I can't do it that way.

Thanks

You would need a chiral stationary phase like a cyclodextrin derivative to be able to separate enantiomers on a gc.

Have you ever separated Benzoin enantiomers on GC and if yes than with what kind of cyclodextrin column. I have Chirasil-Dex and Chirasli-L-Val both from Varian.

Is there a test to prove if the stationary phase is sutible for my application. I don't want to destroy these expensive columns.

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have experience separating benzoin enantiomers using gc.
