Balancing chemical equations.

Hi,

I have the following equations that I have to balance ... I hope someone can help me and tell me if some of them are correct? Thanks in advance.

1. Mercury(II)chlorate and sodium sulfide
HgCl2(aq)+Na2:rarrow: 2 NaClO3 + HgS


2. Tin(II)chloride and Sodium disulfide
SnCl2 (aq) + Na2S2 (aq)  :rarrow: 2 NaCl (aq) + 2SnS (s)

3. Tin(IV)chloride and Sodium disulfide
SnCl4 (aq)+Na2S2   :rarrow:    4NaCl(aq)+2SnS

4.  Lead(II) nitrate and Sodium disulfide
Pb(NO3)2 (aq)+ Na2S2 (aq)  :rarrow: 2 NaNO3 (aq)+ PbS (s)

5. Copper(II)sulfate +Sodium disulfide

CuSO4(aq) + Na2S2(aq)  :rarrow: CuS(s) + Na2SO4(aq)

All reactions are not balanced correctly.
1. there is no oxygen atom on the left side
2. in this case Na2S2 works as oxidizer
3-5. in these reactions elemental sulfur should be added on the right side of equations.

with the excess of Na2S2 the same trithiostannate is formed from both: SnS and SnS2

So,
1.  HgCl2(aq)+Na2S 2 :rarrow: NaCl3 + HgS

3. SnCl4 (aq)+Na2S2   :rarrow:    4NaCl(aq)+SnS

4. Pb(NO3)2 (aq)+ Na2S2 (aq)  :rarrow: 2 NaNO3 (aq)+ PbS (s)  (no idea what to do here - how to add elemental sulfur)

5. CuSO4(aq) + Na2S2(aq)  :rarrow: CuS(s) + SnS (aq)

I hope you can be patient with me, as I have a hard time solving them. Thanks in advance.

Except this one in my last post. This is also form for equations 1, 3 and 5.
In both equation, 2 and 3 SnS2 is formed, or in excess of Na2S2 - soluble Na2SnS3.
This is part of qualitative inorganic chemical analysis. Search for textbook.
Knowledge on balancing chemical reaction is also needed.

HgCl2 is not the formula for mercury(II) chlorate, but instead the formula for mercury (II) chloride.  I don't know where the error is, the name or the formula, but you won't get points on an exam without fixing things like that.

You're right. It's a typing error. It should be mercury (II) chloride and not mercury(II) chlorate as I've been written earlier.

There is no thing such as NaCl3 (sorry ) ... It should only be 2NaCl. Right?

However, I'm still confused on the others. Are they still wrong? :(

It might be that I'm slow, but I still don't know which of the equations you're referring to.

Why don't you simply check if the reaction is balanced on your own? Count all atoms of all elements on both sides (and charges, if they are involved) - if numbers are the same, reaction is balanced, if they are different, the reaction is not balanced (atoms can't miraculously disappear nor show up from nowhere, that's what mass conservation tells us).
