I need help on what type of procedure is done when the reaction is 2-methyl-2-octene and HCl when reacted with heat and CH2Cl2 (methylene chloride). Any suggestions??

What are your thoughts? What functionality is present?

Well methylene chloride will work emulsion and of course the delta sign is heat, so I was considering mixing the 2-methyl-2-octene and HCl together, emulse then heat and use sodium bicarbonate as a way to get rid of the polar organic compounds left, but I don't know if the methylene chloride should be done before or after the heat?

What functional groups are present in 2-methyl-2-octene and how will they react with HCl?
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

What functional groups are present in 2-methyl-2-octene and how will they react with HCl?
There is a double bond and a tertiary methyl group so the product will become 2-chloro-2-mythyloctene.
