Vinegar clears cloudy urine?
« on: March 24, 2017, 09:30:49 AM »
According to this book, urine that is cloudy due to increased concentration of phosphates (phosphaturia) becomes clear if you add vinegar (acetic acid) to it.

Would vinegar also clear the urine that is cloudy due to calcium (hypercalciuria), oxalates (hyperoxaluria) or urates (hyperuricosuria)?

I'm trying to find simple tests that would reveal the causes of cloudy urine, like the ones listed here.

OK, in this case, hydrochloric acid cleared the urine that was cloudy due to high calcium content.

So, can I assume that any acid, like citric acid (from lemons), if strong enough, would clear the urine that is cloudy due to high concentration of calcium, phosphate, oxalate and urate (?) crystals?
