The basics: Iron lid acts as a negative contact bringing the U.S Quarter metal state to a negative state similar or identical to iron, then submerging the now negative charged coin to a positive electrolyte(Copper Chloride), While the iron lid is displacing Copper Chloride, the Quarter coin is being copper plated due to the -/+ reaction taking place.
