Electrophilic addition
« on: June 15, 2017, 07:26:34 AM »
Hi. I have the half-reaction given below which would be the hydration of acrylic acid.
CH2=CH-COOH + H2O.
Could you please help me by explaining the electronic mechanisms that take place, the formation of carbocations and the overall result of the reaction?

It is a forum rule that you must show your attempt at working a problem before we can help you.  A good place to start might be your defining the term hydration.
