Silver Nitrate molecular structure
« on: November 08, 2017, 04:27:30 AM »
Hello guys! I'm Roberto, from Italy.
I know it could sound a dumb question to most of you but I am not an expert:
is there anyone who could help me figuring out how the molecular structure of the silver nitrate is? I'm searching for the kind of molecular structure as in the picture below.
Thank you all in advance for your support :)

Its possible to draw, you can even generate it with SMILES on our forum, using what is known about the structure.  It won't be nearly as interesting as an organic structure.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Okay, could you draw it? I need to visualize it. It is the silver salt of the analog photography :)

No. Salts you are thinking about are silver halogens - mostly chloride, bromide and iodide. Silver nitrate is not photosensitive.

Wikipedia article on the silver nitrate contains its molecular formula, have you checked it? If so, my bet is that you missed the formula because it doesn't look too spectacular.

Thank you so much Borek! I was reading about it. Actually the Silver Bromide results to be the most used silver halide in the emulsion on the b/w films.

Could in your opinion a simple Ag-Br be a representative "formula" for the b/w film photography?
