Nanoparticles? Citrate ion?
« on: December 06, 2017, 01:53:05 PM »
Hi There,

What is the purpose of the citrate ions used when making gold nanoparticles? Is it to prevent continued growth of the nanoparticles? I'm trying to think of at least 2 reasons citrate is used?

Thanks

What are some properties of citrate or citric acid that might apply to gold nanoparticle synthesis? For one thing, think about how the NPs are converted from your gold salt feedstock to an NP.
