Syllabus for IChO

Hi Everyone,

I'm an Australian student, and if I'm selected I will be participating in the 2019 IChO.

I've started studying but I'm unsure of the depth to which I should go.

I found a few syllabuses:

The first is from IChO Russia 2007, the second from  Czech Republic,  Slovakia 2018.

The first seems more comprehensive, and the second doesn't seem to be updated and dates to 2013.

Those who have participated in the IChO, which syllabus should I follow, and is it accurate?

I know there is a problem solving aspect, but in regards to content, is that enough?

I don't think there is a definitive answer to your question. Try to consult your teacher and organizers on Australian side.

Instead of going through the syllabus, try to solve as many IChO problems as possible - learning on the way each time you find something new.

Going in deep through a GenChem101 syllabus of any good university is also always a good idea.

Many years ago policy was that if the Olympiad required some specific knowledge outside of the standard school syllabuses it was a "suggested reading" mentioned by the organizers before the event.
