Germanium Oxide
« on: May 31, 2018, 12:02:09 PM »
I am new to chemistry, and I can't find the answer to my issues.
I want to know how to get Germanium Oxide.
Starting solution is Germanium dissolved into Muriatic Acid with trace minerals included.
I can't tell you everything in the solution. But here are the necessary parameters;
Needs to end in at least a 95% recovery of germanium.
Must use inexpensive material.
Preferably low toxicity reagents.

What form do you think the germanium is in in the acidic solution?

Here's a general reference on the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanium_tetrachloride#Production

You can start with information like this, to begin to formulate a plan.  Its not exactly your situation, but by clicking from topic to topic, I got pretty close.  Without real chemistry knowledge you can't solve every problem, and we can't teach you everything.  But you can start with what you can learn.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
