What would be a good website to review chemistry with?
« on: July 10, 2006, 11:24:43 PM »
I'm taking Chemistry II in the fall, and I took Chem I last semester, but I'm afraid that I won't remember a lot of the subjects.  I'm already looking through my books, but can anyone suggest a good chemistry review site out there?

Check out the links on the menu on the left; there are many good organic chemistry websites that you can revise from.

I have a very good professor who taught me the basics (not that I remember anything  :P).

Anyway he has nice PDF files of all the content covered in CHEM I AND CHEM II, found at his website http://chemistry.che.georgiasouthern.edu/jlobue/

CHEM I is labeled "Chem 1145" and CHEM II is labeled "Chem 1146."  Take note of this.

Click "Lecture" after you click the Chem 1145 or Chem 1146 links, the notes of various chapters should be there.  Notice also there are nice info links provided as well as sample exams, although the solutions are not there.

chem1.com is the one I go to a lot. Chapters from most of the Chem I subjects, seems incomplete though, missing chapters. But great overall.

I am a new member in this forum. I love chemistry very much. I have learned it a lot in my first language, but I don't know how to start from the beginning in the second language. I reallly need some help, please tell me how to stand on it.
Thank you very much

You need just some vocabulary drills, chemistry is identical regardless of the language ;)

Check this site:

It covers a lot of General Chemistry material, so it can be a good start.

I would suggest that you start with the textbook you will use next fall in chemII.  read through the chapters you covered and work some problems at the end of the sections/chapters.  If you run into something you can't solve post up the question here.  You should use a sytematic approach, go through the chapters as they are listed on that website. This way you re-build your knowledge.  Also, when you go through the chapters don't do the "BAH! I already know this so I don't have to read it or practice it..." use those opportunities to really master the concepts.  I would stay away from websites.  It isn't easy to know which are peer reviewed.  At least you know that your text is peer reviewed and the information is accurate, pertinent and arranged in an order that is logical.

There are couple of basic chemistry books in amazon that are pretty useful for those that would like to get the interest in Chemistry back. This is what i recommend my students as well as their parents (parents in Asia are very anxious about their child's education). Read through the books listed below and find them pretty easy to digest.

In terms of Chemistry online website, i have started one since last year where students, teachers and tutors actually came in to answer Chemistry questions and share their experiences. Hope you will find it useful to the learning. Feel free to leave your questions and comments at www.SimpleChemConcepts.com.

All the Best to Your Academic Success in Chemistry,

Hi,

In my opinion it is.
http://www.learnerstv.com

It contains FREE streaming video lectures, free animations and free e-book download links. An excellent resource for chemistry, physics, Biology, Maths etc.. Really superb and worth visiting.
