Which reaction is a part of Bronstedt acid and base reaction
« on: August 28, 2018, 04:19:57 PM »
1: HCl+NaOH
2: NH3+H2O
3: AgNO3 +KCl
4: BaCl2 + Na2SO4
5: HCl +Zn
6: CH4 förbränns i luft
I have choosen 1, 2, 5, 6 I know 2 is wrong which are they? are there more which I missed in my answer?

Thanks!

What would be the product in 2?
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

I would write the products before attempting to answer any of the questions.

The reactions are the following!
HCl and NaOH: HCl(aq)+ NaOH(aq) -->H2O+NaCL(aq)
NH3 + H2O <--> NH4 in acid base NH3(aq) + H2O -->NH4 +OH-
AgNO3(s)+ NaSO4 -->AgCl + K+ NO3
BaCl2 and NaSO4 BaCl2(aq) +Na2--> BaSO4 (s) + 2NaCl (aq)
HCl and Zn    Zn(s) + 2HCl (aq) -->ZnCl2 (aq) H2(g)
CH4 burn with air: CH4 +2O2 (g) +2H2O

Can someone help me determine which are Bronstedts redoxreactions?

I Think reaction number 1,2,5,6 is the answer but I think 2 of the is wrong? Are there any more reactions that belong to acid-base in bronsteds redoxreaction?

I don't agree that 5 and 6 are examples of a Bronstedt acid and base reactions. In 5, the proton is not accepted by any reagent, it becomes a gas.

I don't understand what you have written.  Do you know the definition of a Bronsted acid-base reaction?  Do you know the definition of a redox reaction?
