TLC of glucose

Hello!
I am trying to follow protocol for TLC of glucose. Mobile phase contains CH3COOH:NH4OH 0.35M: Acetonitrile = 1:1:8.
It was too polar for glucose and I tried to modify it to CH3COOH:NH4OH 0.35M: Acetonitrile: Hexane = 1:1:2:6. But it didn't help.

How can I decrease polarity?
From other solvents I have EtAc; EtOH; ProOH; Hexane and Chloroform.

Egon Stahl's venerable book on TLC has a chapter on carbohydrates IIRC.  Ten hours in the lab can save you an hour in the library.
