microtubule formation vs. microfilament formation
« on: July 23, 2006, 09:26:24 PM »
Hi,

I am just wondering....do microfilaments ever use GTP to polymerize, or do they exclusively use ATP-actin?  Thanks so much!

microtubules use GTP to polymerise and actin uses ATP. Intermediate filaments polymerize by tetramers that are polymerized to a intermediate filament.
