Azo Dye Naming Help

(1/1)

jdover5199:
Working on a lab report and can't seem to find out the chemical name of this azo dye we used in synthesis. Tried to search on google based solely on the chemical formula and could not seem to find the right structure, and it is a little too complicated to name by myself. Any ideas?

sjb:

The parent (naphthalene) is something like 8-aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid. Can you piece together the rest?

AWK:
ANSA is not an azo dye. It is used as a fluorescent indicator.

wildfyr:
Azo dyes will by definition have N=N in them.
