Applying Standard Error Question.

Hi all,

I am currently writing a lab report for Physical Chemistry on redox potentials.

In the report I have been asked to perform an error analysis as follows:

"Excel Regression should be used on all linear plots to obtain standard error in slope & intercept and that data should be reported. The desired experimental parameter has then to be calculated not only for the original value but also recalculated plus and minus the standard error to give the range of values."

I have been able to use excel to perform the regression and have that data. Where I am stuck is I don't really understand what the next part is asking me to do.

What I think I should do, is use the slope and intercept values from the regression to recalculate the redox potential. Then, take the regression values away from my experimentally obtained slope and intercept values and recalculate. Doing the same for the addition.

So, have I understood this correctly? Just wanting some reassurance that I'm on the right track as this section of the report is worth a substantial number of marks.
