Is Mountain Rocks painting possible?
« on: May 03, 2019, 08:40:54 AM »
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_(geology)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painting

Can naturally occurring Rocks be given different colours i.e. painted?

We do paint automobiles viz Car, Buses, aeroplanes etc.

We do paint Houses.

Can we apply paint colours to Mountain Rocks?. I mean physical Mountain Rocks and not painting drawings of Mountains rocks.

For example :

Mountains are made of Rocks. Can they be given different colours ?

If Yes, How?
If No, Why?

Thanks & Regards,

Some or all Rocks in the mountains.

I mean similar to Paints used for automobiles, Paints used for Residential, Commercial complexes, Is it possible to paint Rocks with different paint colours?

If Yes, Can we use the existing
paints or New paints have to be created?

If I am not wrong, paints created again are of some chemical composition.

If No, Why?

Thanks & Regards,

Yes, we can paint rocks. Some paints will work better, some not.

Take a paint, take a rock, and try.

Paints meant for cement or concrete would find similar surfaces on rocks. Some paints are meant for glass, also good candidates.

The key to success is cleaning the rock surface, as important as the choice of the paint.

In some caves, paintings made 30,000 years ago are still bright and neat, so it does work. Exposure to sunlight would limit the choice of the paint.

I was going to say the same. Any friable surface should be cleaned and even primed if flaky. Depends on the rock and the paint.
Tonight I’m going to party like it’s on sale for $19.99!
