script file virus?
« on: September 29, 2013, 07:07:09 AM »
Hello friends,

since two days, if I open the forum it will download a script file analytics.js from a.sitmeter.com.

What is this? Is it a trojan or virus?

I happens by using IE or AOL browser.

Firefox and Chrome nothing visible.

Sitemeter script is loaded for as long as I remember, nothing new here. It does some statistical analysis of the visitors. I believe you should see the sitemeter icon (clickable) at the very bottom of the page.

I have also been getting this on my windows phone for the last two days (never happened before).

It's quite annoying because every time I open a page I get an error message saying the file is not recognised and I have to press "back" to view the page.

It's only a minor annoyance because I don't usually use my phone to check the forums.

OK, thanks for letting me know. Due to the way things are configured I don't see it, so I was not aware of the problems.

For now the script is switched off, I will put it back online in a week from now - please keep me posted in case of any problems. Chances are it is some kind of a transient problem.
