what do you mean by applications?

At least try to pretend you're not just saying "do my homework for me"   :P

eventhough the people posting before me are absolutely right about the "homework" issue:

ever thought about "cuprates" and "sharpless amino-hydroxylation"? ;-)

Try to gather some information, it shouldn't be too difficult

(I regret my english is not compareable to a native speaker. But please forgive me, I'm just a "Kraut" :-D

The Sharpless amino hydroxylation is not specific to alpha-beta-unsaturated ketones, it can be applied to alkenes in general.

The Michael addition of cuprates, if I recall correctly, generally requires formation of the Lithium cuprate or another such 'mixed-metal' organometallic.

Indeed, but it is definitly possible to do an Aminohydroxylation in order to obtain e.g. unnatural amino-acids.

But to give an application of alpha-beta unsaturated compounds: Do some radical-chemistry with e.g. a,b-unsaturated esters or amides as radical acceptors.

Sorry - I got confused there and I thought you were the original poster! I was trying to get him to think a bit more carefully about what he was asking... oops!
