Latent acid activated upon heating?
« on: March 08, 2007, 08:04:11 AM »
Hi,

In a project I'm working on I would need a chemical which is stable and not acidic at room temperature but will become an acid at elevated temperatures (preferably below 100ÂșC). I have looked into diffrent groups of chemicals and thought I might be able to use an easily hydrolyzable ester? or oxalate(I was thinking of dimethyloxalate)? or are there any groups of carboxylic acids which are blocked and will become activated at elevated temperatures?

thank you for your help.

best regards,

Anna
