synthesis of schiff bases

hi
pls help me
i need the reaction conditions (lab) for the synthesis of schiff base from ketones and
amino antipyrines(aap). ihave prepared schiff bases from aldehydes and the aap under lab conditions. but ketones are not responding
pls help

Schiff bases are harder to form from ketones. You might need to heat it a little longer. Did you try sodium ethoxide in ethanol? I've had some success using that.

HI,
You can change the molar ratio that is for one mole of aminoantipyrine take three to five mole of acetone to shift the equilibrium or remove water of reaction by adding in-trainer like benzene.
