I'd like to point out that I've been coming to chemicalforums much less frequently since the posts that DrCMS talks about started appearing.

And now that I think about it, it IS a waste of my time (and other peoples') to post job postings on this board.  I am convinced no one reads them but it takes up space.

I'll start a poll. Vote in it if you want to keep the job forum.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.

What about making it so that Humor and Jobs don't come up ever in recent posts.  People who are job hunting can go to the Job Forum.

There is just no way... It would be a source code modification, and of course I could do it, I just could never promise when it would be possible to have that kind of time to get it done.

How exactly do you read the forums?  I simply don't read the humor forum, so I never read any posts for it.  Are you clicking a button that shows you ALL the posts since your last visit?  I'd certainly be wary of that.

Two ways of being aware of what was happening on the forums:

http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?action=recent
http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?action=unread

I prefer "recent", as it contains text of all posts and I can read them all in one place without further clicking. With tons of unrelated posts it stops to work, as it displays "only" last 100.

Well, then it certainly depends on your style of viewing the boards.  I didn't find any of the 'spamming' posts offensive because I don't read those forums.  I click on the forum I want to read, and the 'new' posts are marked as such.  Then I 'Open Link In New Window' by right clicking, and thus I keep from clicking all the time.  I also don't get innundated with posts that I don't care about.  I will also occasionally click on the 'new replies to your posts' link under my username.  Just another style to think about.

This way you have to separately view each forum. Much more clicking and - especially when you are trying to moderate everything - higher chances of missing something.

*shrug*  That's up to you, I guess.  Before clicking on 'new posts' you might visit both the humor and the job forums and click on 'mark all read'.  That's only 4 more clicks.  Then click on 'new' and you'll have your list sans those two forums.
