pseudo first orger kinetics

im doing a pseudo kinestics 1st order problem where rate = k [H]^x [AA] ^y and im having trouble figuring out the x and y values the formula that my professor gave was x = ln(k obs Run # / k obs run #)/ ln 2 and the same goes for y. i didnt really have any problems calculating the y value however im having trouble calculating x since the concentration is decreasing and so is the k obs i keep getting a negative number however that doesnt make sense when i calculate the k value and my lab manual says that the x and y values should be between .8 and 1.2 please help if you can
