MS spectrum questions
« on: May 29, 2010, 04:11:40 AM »
Hi,

I have some MS homework. I tried to figure it out, but have some problems. I'll attach the MS spectra- Could you please help?

The first question is about the attached spectrum-  C7H7Br. first- what is the 65 fragment?
second- can this MS spectrum tell me whether it is Bromomethyl benzene or 1 Bromo-3-methyl benzene? what I'm not sure about is: Is there one substituent -methylbromide, or two substituent in two positions- one is a bromide and one is a methyl?

Thank you very much!

the structure possibly has only one substituent, methylbromide.

Hi, thank you for your reply!

How do you know it from the spectrum? would the spectrum be different in the other case?
