Magnesium Acetate and Peroxide

There is a patent out utilizing magnesium acetate and peroxide.  I had wanted to know the mechanism and product of this reaction. I was wondering if decarboxylation would occur leaving a radical methyl.  The other possible product is peracetic acid

ok what about ferrous acetate and peroxide.  i know iron 2 becomes iron three but what happens to acetate...does everything just become carbon dioxide and water?  what if magnesium was attached to a carboxcyilic group bigger than acetae and reacted with peroxide? please help

We can start to figure this one out, if you'd tell us what the patent claimed this two mixtures would do.
