Hi IntanjirThanks for coming back and clearing a few things up. It is very helpful

'Alanine' is alpha-alanine and not particularly related to carnosine and anserine.
Carnitine is not particularly protein-like. It is made from amino acids but they are not simply combined in the standard way for making a peptide.
Functionally it somewhat resembles glycerine in that it is a place for fatty acids to be attached. Fatty acids are attached to glycerine for storage and to carnitine for transport across mitochindria. ...makes sense to list carnitine near lipids, but it is not a lipid on its own.
Thanks for that. It puts it into nice easy terms which i can understand and really helps clarify the ideas that I have ( a bit mixed up currently ) about these things.
So it looks like the “story” is the following...
So I got confused with Carnitin as a
protein as it is made from the two
amino acids Methionin and
Lysin. But you have explained it is not quite working in the classic “amino acid chain
peptide things”, and in the practice it is sort of “neutral” for Nutritional considerations. My Creatine may be OK in a
"Peptide" section next to my
Proteins section. But not L Carnitin - Like Glycerol it is what i might call a
Fat like thing, and to be tacked on at the end of my
Fats. This ties up nicely with what you have said.
In the body Carnitine it is doing something similar to glycerol in “carrying” things. Within the body what it is carrying leads to the many ideas about possibly being able to influence the metabolism encouraging energy use, helping with sport and diet etc etc..( and maybe our body agrees better with L type ? ) In any case for some reason it does not seem to be supplied pure. What we are given is L carnitine carrying Tartrate. ( Maybe alone it is unstable? Or someone thinks it encourages the carnitine to go to the right place as the body strips off ( burns away ) the tartrate. ?? ) In any case the occurance of Tartrate further makes the thing well listed tacked on the end of my
Fats.
I am still trying out of interest to see theoretically how / what the particular amount of Tartrate is carried per unit of carnitin. But for now Isee empirically it is about .47 tartrate to 1 L- Carnitin.
with my L carnitin pill Nutrition value the story is the following..
Magnesiumstearat
_____ 2.27
L-carnitin
____________58.24
Tartrate
______________27.44
L-Carnitin Tartrate
______85.58
Kcal per 100g = (3 x 27.44) + ( 2.27 x 9.1 ) = 82.32 + 20.657 = approx 103
I am still not quite sure if my Magnesiumstearat is mostly stearat so we just are effectively doing 2.27 x stearat.
Or how the .47 comes Theoretically.
But i am certainly a lot further in getting all the contributions as well as where best to put these things in my list
Thanks
Alan
