Can i make this solution and store on shelf?
« on: December 03, 2017, 08:11:11 PM »
Hi, Hope you can help.

I have been asked to make a solution of calcium phosphate, Ammonium sulphate and ascorbic acid. Can i combine these and if so, what would the shelf life be? Would love an explanation as well to help me understand/learn  :D

Cheers
Marie

Calcium phosphate (and sulfate) are barely soluble, so it will be rather diluted solution.

All compounds mentioned are thermodynamically stable at room temperature, so they won't decompose oh their own. That means it is up to you to define the shelf life - in theory sterile solution kept in the dark, cold place, in an airtight bottle, will be OK forever.
