Does amount of DI water u add affect a titration?
« on: August 14, 2012, 02:40:27 AM »
lets say u have 2g NaCl dissolved in 50ml water and titrate with a suitable titrant to determine the conc of NaCl

if 60ml water used instead of 50ml for 2g NaCl, will it affect the conc of NaCl obtained?

Titration determines AMOUNT of substance (usually number of moles). What you calculate using this number is not related to the titration itself.

Yes and no...

It will affect the shape of your titration curve (more water will lead to a more shallow curve), but the volume of titrant to reach the endpoint will not change.
